Over the years we have catered to everyone from beginners who just want to learn to play songs to more advanced players who have experience in the industry, and everything in between.We provide a fun, safe learning environment designed to accommodate YOUR personal objectives. We recognize that each student is a unique individual, and in doing so, we are able to tailor lessons to specifically meet the needs of each student as opposed to presenting a "general curriculum". We have found that this method accelerates progress, builds confidence and encourages a higher level of learning.We specialize in everything from guitar, bass and voice to theory, sight reading and ear training. Background & EducationJoel was raised in the small town of Mineral Wells, TX, where he bought his first bass at age 14. For the next 2 years, he played in many local bands before he realized that he was going to have to do much more if he wanted to make a career out of music.In an attempt to diversify and learn the business, he set out on a journey. He enrolled in McLennan College where he began to take interest in the guitar as well as the bass. He then returned to his hometown and was given a full scholarship to play for Weatherford College, and under the tutelage of Tom Burchill and Aden Bubeck, he received his AA in music.Performance ListFrom there, he began making connections in the music scene and shortly thereafter, performed with artists such as By The Tree, Sean Mitchell, Keith Luker, Sean Feucht, Tom Davis, Joe Forlini, Ray Flacke, Mike Drake, Buddy Miles and Bob Mintzer, just to name a few.During this time, Joel never stopped studying and spent time under Lou Harlas and bass greats, Billy Sheehan and Stu Hamm, before spending time in Nashville where he got to glean from Dave Pommeroy. After sometime recording, performing and studying in Nashville, he returned to Texas only to futher his career by sharing the stage with well known names including, Willie Nelson, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Kevin Fowler, Mike Mancy, Kyle Bennett Band, Pancho Sanchez and George Benson. He has even worked with Blink 182, Bush, Tommy Shannon and Sammy Hagar.Currently Joel moved to Texas, where he resides with his wife and daughter, and enrolled at Collin County Community Collegewhere he studied under Kris Berg while becoming a music minister. Joel is currently enrolled in the University of Texas Arlington in their music program. He has recently finished a 2 year term as Praise Band II director for Lucas Christian Academy in Lucas, TX, and 4 year term as the music and fine arts director at the Summit Church in Wylie, TX. He currently plays at churches all throughout Texas and is the founder of a music based ministry, Spirit Groove Ministries, Inc. He frequently plays jazz with the Jason Bennett Trio. Joel and his wife have recently formed their own band entitled Grace By Fire.Joel has vast experience in all genres of music from the studio to the stage. His passion to impart his experience and knowledge has compelled him to teach all styles (country, rock, jazz, funk, gospel, latin, etc) of private guitar and bass lessons for the last 8 years and he presently teaches part-time at Ballard Street Music Company.
